When you purchase a new router, it’s a good idea to change the default configuration (login credentials and SSID) before using it to connect to the Internet. This will provide better security for your network. This article provides the procedure for how to login to Asus routers. The Asus router login procedure is not overly complicated, but following the steps makes it it even simpler.

How to log into Asus routers

To log in to the Asus router, follow these steps:

Connect the router to a modem. Plug an Ethernet cable into the Internet port on your router and plug the other end of the cable into the Ethernet port on your modem.
Power your router on.
Look up the Asus router login IP address. Open your web browser. Type 192.168.1.1, which is the Asus router URL and IP address, into the address bar and press enter.
This will give you access to the Asus router login page and the Asus router web interface, where you can update your information, change settings, update firmware, check network speed, and more. Type your username and password into the boxes and you will be successfully logged in and able to access the setup page.
Change default login information.
1. In your router settings, under Advanced Setting, click Administration.
2. Click System to change login credentials.
3. Enter a new username and password, then click Apply.
Change SSID (the name of your network) and password.
1. Under Wireless name (SSID), type a new name.
2. Under Authentication Method, select WPA2-Personal and enter a new strong WiFi password.

If you haven't yet changed your default Asus router passwords or username for better security, you can log in using the default router admin login. For Asus, the default router password and username combination is admin/admin. Both the username and password are case sensitive, so be careful to avoid any accidental capitalization's or spaces. If you changed your password but forgot it, or if you simply can't find the login for your router, you can reset it. For the Asus router, reset passwords by resetting the system with a factory reset. Furthermore, to reset the router, locate the small reset button on the back of the router. Press and hold the button for a few moments until your router's lights blink.

Be aware that resetting your router, as mentioned above, erases any custom configurations that the user has set up. If you previously set up port forwarding, for example, you will need to reestablish these settings in the WiFi router.
